Tin Town

"Brighton" Composed by Chas TELFER.
P.O.W.

I've
just come back from Tin Town by train;
Three months there nearly turned my brain;
I looked into the Officers Mess
There was Bill BESTER & DRAKE at Chess;
I then strolled down to the Barber Shop,
There into KLUCKOW'S and had a hop:
There had a chat with Ben DOYLE and PENTZ
But I'll never go there anymore
Chorus
To Tin Town, to Tin Town
Where they say such things and they do such things
At Tin Town, at Tin Town
And I'll never go there anymore
I then went into the Commandants Kantoor
There was Bill BESTER and the Majoor
They were deciding to give me parole
So I just ran, like a rat, to its hole.
I then went down to the football ground
There the football could not be found
For it had been kicked into the dead space
And the burghers could get it no more
Chorus
To Tin Town, to Tin Town
Where they say such things and they do such things
At Tin Town, at Tin Town
And I'll never go there anymore
I then strolled about for an hour or two
I met two burghers in clothes brand new.
HUGO'S store has been burnt thought I,
So I felt very much inclined to cry
I then went down, one of the houses to see,
The Burghers were having a fine old spree
For Poor Dolf KRUGER had lost his bride
So I was a afraid to go there anymore
Chorus
To Tin Town, to Tin Town
Where they say such things and they do such things
At Tin Town, at Tin Town
And I'll never go there anymore
One night in the Camp there I went on the Spree
With Comdt VAN DAM and John BRAMLEY
We all got tight and felt terribly queer,
On KLUCKOW'S horrible ginger beer.
We then strolled down to the Music
Hall
Raasbek DRAKE was beginning to bawl,
Our only predikant then had a try
So we'd never go there anymore
